Networking Events Provide a Personal Touch
SupplySide West was not only a great opportunity for attendees to be a part
of cutting-edge educational seminars and learn about important opportunities,
but gave a chance to make new connections at several receptions wrapping up each
day of the show.
The International Reception, held Tuesday evening and sponsored by KGK
Synergize, OptiPure and Soft Gel Technologies Inc. (SGTI), drew more than 500
execs from around the globe to strengthen current relationships and build new
business partnerships. Guests were treated to a delicious array of pastas,
bread, salads, fruits, cheeses and crackers. “The International Reception
provided an excellent opportunity to network with executives from around the
world, opening up new business opportunities,” said Kristin Reynolds,
associate marketing and sales director, KGK. Ron Udell, SGTI president, echoed
Reynolds' sentiments: “The International Reception is always a great venue for
us to thank our customers, mingle with old friends and make new contacts. It
provides invited guests a good opportunity to share in business discussions over
a glass of wine or other cocktail. As a co-sponsor, we were pleased with the
attendance and the quality of the people that came to this event.”
After the exhibit hall closed on Wednesday, 3,600 participants attended the
Opening Reception, co-sponsored by DSM Nutritional Products and SourceOne Global
Partners. Guests were treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres, complete with strip
loin and turkey carving stations, an Asian-themed lettuce wrap buffet,
vegetarian chicken dishes and fruit. "The opening reception was a terrific
venue for mingling with fellow colleagues and customers in our industry. It was
a great event," said Todd L. Sitkowski, senior commercial manager for DSM.
On Thursday, an Appreciation Lunch was laid out in the exhibit hall, with a
spread of hot dogs, pastas, fajitas and salads. The day ended with the
presentation of Food Product Design and INSIDER Scientific Excellence award to
Tate & Lyle, along with the SupplySide West 10-year anniversary toast.
Complementary glasses of champagne and cake were passed around to exhibitors and
attendees. “A lot of people have been a part of the SupplySide story during
the last 10 years, and it was great to see many of them at our booth for the
anniversary toast," said Jon Benninger, Virgo Publishing's director of
business development. "We have come a long way together.”
