PHOENIX -- Virgo Publishing announced the latest additions to the agenda at SupplySide East, April 28 to 30 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, N.J.

The Education Program, sponsored by EPAX, features accomplished researchers, top government officials and industry leaders. Recent additions include:
• Acting Chief of the Section of Nutritional Neurosciences at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) for the National Institutes of Health, Commander Joseph Hibbeln, M.D., is presenting “Omega-3 EFA Deficiencies: Quantifying Hidden Impacts in Neurodevelopment and Mental Health”
• Paul Gross, Ph.D., author of Wolfberry: Nature’s Bounty of Health and Nutrition, will present “Deciphering Superfruits and Their Future Market Impact”
• Capsugel’s Global Business Development Manager, Peter Zambetti, to discuss growing, declining and potential global vitamin and dietary supplement markets
• Formulating for controlled release and boosting product performance to be addressed by BASF Senior Technical Service Specialist Leonardo Mendez
• Annette Dickinson, Ph.D., and Joy Joseph will address the most common questions relating to new GMP regulations
• The state of global malnutrition and how the industry can play a role will be examined by Managing Partner of inlexo, Clayton Ajello, Ph.D.

The Food and Drug Administration’s Vasilios Frankos, Ph.D., director of the Division of Dietary Supplement Programs (DDSP), will be the Featured Speaker on Wednesday, Apr. 30. Frankos will provide an update on recent FDA activity including the adverse reaction reporting system, as well as a general update on mandatory serious adverse reaction reporting under the Dietary Supplement and Nonprescription Drug Consumer Protection Act.

Speakers from the American Botanical Council, American Herbal Products Association, Council for Responsible Nutrition, Drexel University, Georgetown University Medical Center, Informed-Choice, Innova Market Insights, Laval University, Natural Products Association, The Natural Marketing Institute, Ullman, Shapiro & Ullman, University of Colorado Denver & Health Sciences Center, U.S. Pharmacopeia and many other leading organizations will present in the three-day education program. The Natural Products Association is offering "An Advanced Course on the Final FDA GMP Rule for Dietary Supplements," from 8am to 5pm on Monday, Apr. 28 and 8am to Noon on Tuesday, Apr. 29. Speakers will discuss the impact and provisions of the final rule; participants will learn what is expected and the consequences of non-compliance. Registration is additional for this event.
