SupplySide West Palm Fruit Bioactives Workshop Announced

PHOENIX—In conjunction with the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), VIRGO is offering the workshop “2nd Annual Palm Fruit Bioactives: Advancing Market Potentials of Palm Bioactives Through Scientific Discoveries" on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during SupplySide West, which will be held Oct. 10 to 14, 2011, at The Venetian & Sands Expo in Las Vegas. This workshop is developed and sponsored by MPOC. Mike Danielson will discuss market trends in a presentation titled “Palm Bioactives: Examining Current Market Trend and Application Potentials." There will be three presentations on tocotrienols, including “Tocotrienol Against Stroke: From the Lab to Human Clinical Studies," presented by Chanden Sen, Ph.D., FACSM, FACN; “Palm Mixed Tocotrienols for Boomer – Antioxidant and Immune Function Support," presented by Dayong Wu, Ph.D.; and “’You Are What You Absorb’ – Challenges in the Utilization of Palm Tocotrienol Complex as Nutraceutical Product," presented by Tony Kong, Ph.D. The workshop also includes two presentations on palm oil/carotenoids—“Sustainability and Nutritional Facts about Red Palm Oil," presented by U. R. Unnithan, and “Palm Mixed Carotenes and Disease Prevention" by Monica Orozco, Ph.D. Kaylana Sundram, Ph.D, FASc, FNS will present on polyphenols in “Positive Outcomes of Oil Palm Phenolics on Degenerative Diseases."
