PHOENIX- VIRGO is offering a new workshop titled "Health Practitioners and Supplements: Channel Data, Strategies and Opportunities for Growth," presented by Integrative Healthcare Insider and produced in collaboration with Holistic Primary Care, on Tuesday, May 3 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at SupplySide East, set for May 2 to 4 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ. The workshop is sponsored by EpiCor®.

This new workshop is for companies that are currently developing and marketing supplements for the healthcare practitioner market as well as those supplement manufacturing companies with an interest in entering this lucrative market. The workshop is comprised of industry experts who will discuss how this rapidly growing professional market differs from traditional retail markets, and offer strategies for companies new to the channel and companies that are already there.

"More and more doctors and healthcare providers are taking an interest in these products and their applications in clinical practice and patient care," said Peggy Jackson, executive vice president, Health & Nutrition Network, VIRGO. "As this channel expands, the companies that best understand the unique needs of healthcare providers will be the most successful."

Erik Goldman, editor, Holistic Primary Care, will present data from the new study “Primary Care Physicians and Holistic Medicine.” This research delves into attitudes and behaviors of medical doctors related to dietary supplements and integrative medicine, including physician-patient discussions about dietary supplements, why doctors say they do and do not sell supplements, new revenue streams that doctors are considering as well as physician attitudes about diet and lifestyle in clinical practice.

Attendees will also hear firsthand from one of the most prominent integrative physicians in the U.S., Derrick DeSilva, M.D. Dr. DeSilva is a practicing internist at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J. and is on the teaching faculty at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J. He hosts the radio show "Ask the Doctor" and the television show "To Your Health," has appeared on CNN and Nightline, and has formulated more than 100 nutritional products.

The workshop will also include a panel discussion featuring Kyle Bliffert, president, Pure Encapsulations, and Gerard McIntee, formerly of Nature’s Plus and NBTY’s Physiologics brand, who will discuss the ins and outs of this channel, how it differs from traditional retail channels, and strategies to consider. The panel and the event will be moderated by Rob Lutz, medical practitioner brand manager, Health & Nutrition Network, VIRGO.

Registration is $25 by April 28 and $35 after April 28. Registration is required to attend and space is limited. Additional details can be found here.
