Cloudy, rainy skies didn't dampen the spirits of the participants at the 2008 SupplySide East Golf Classic, co sponsored by New York-based Marco Hi-Tech and INSIDER. Hosted at the private Green Brook Country Club, a short distance from the Meadowlands Convention Center, golfers braved the cold weather to take on a shortened nine-hole tournament.
After wringing out their rainwear and making a pit-stop at the clubhouse bar, attendees enjoyed a full salad bar, baked ziti and chicken, hotdogs and hamburgers, and an ice cream sundae buffet. After lunch, David Garner, a partner in Marco Hi-Tech, and Virgo Publishing’s Heather Granato drew for raffle prizes that included shirts, hats and a putter. Following the raffle, awards were given to the winning teams and individuals. Taking the first place trophies was the team of Ken Bender and John Musselman, GTC Nutrition; and Blake Christensen and Chuck Wach, Nature's Sunshine Products. In second place was a threesome: Greg Ris, Indena USA, with Oscar Ramjeet and Joe Kramer from Nature's Value. And third place went to Dan Stauber, Stauber Performance Ingredients; Bill Foley, Vitarich Laboratories; and Sander Krupski, ZMC-USA.
As for individual achievements, Catherine Manigold, TB Labs, had the Ladies' Longest Drive, while Larry Walsh, JM Huber Corp., shot the Men's Longest Drive. Ris won the Men's Closest to the Pin, hitting within 9 feet; Courtney Turner, Pharmachem Laboratories, won the Women's Closest to the Pin.
Marco Hi-Tech’s sponsorship of the tournament once again provided the opportunity to get out on the greens. Garner noted shortening the tournament helped maintain everyone's upbeat attitudes, which set the stage for a productive, positive trade show. "The unfavorable weather conditions are indicative of the current business climate, however, everyone adapted in an encouraging manner," he said. |
