  • Location: Holiday Inn – Hunterdon, Middlesex & Monmouth Ballroom
  • Speaker: Georges P. Bergen, M.S., MPH, scientific and regulatory consultant, CANTOX U.S. Inc.

A recast regulation governing all cosmetics products sold in the European Union will eventually supersede European Council Directive 76/768/EEC on the Approximation of the Laws of the Member States Relating to Cosmetic Products and its many amendments. Enforcement is not expected to come into effect before 2012 at the earliest. However, significant data requirements will be required in the Product Information Files (PIFs) mandated in Article 11 of the recast regulation. A PIF is required for all cosmetic/toiletry products that are on sale to the public. This session will provide a summary of the regulatory and data requirements soon to be mandated for sale of all cosmetic products and every ingredient found therein.

The Use of Natural Materials in Color Cosmetics
11-11:50am
  • Location: Holiday Inn – Hunterdon, Middlesex & Monmouth Ballroom

Color cosmetics are traditionally derived from a variety of synthetic materials. A trend in the color cosmetics industry is to produce color cosmetics from naturally derived ingredients, such as oils, plant extracts, minerals and other natural materials. Consumers adopting an increasingly natural lifestyle are pushing this trend, and have begun to seek color cosmetics products made with natural versus synthetic ingredients. Attend this session to learn more about this trend and how manufacturers are answering the call to produce natural coloring materials that offer additional benefits such as UV protection and anti-aging effects.
